Requirements:

  • Be a trainee practicing in Belgium
  • Be a member of the RBSLM
  • Complete your traineeship after September 30, 2025
  • Paper should have been published between August 2024 and October 2025
  • Article in press are welcome
  • Paper cannot be part of a PhD thesis to avoid competition with PhD training

Application procedure:

To apply to the prize, applicant need to fill in the online form, where it will be asked to:

  • Provide the PDF of the published article
  • A short brief in which they describe where and when the work was prepared, who was guiding the work and when the paper was accepted for publication
  • A proof of acceptance in case of a press article

Application procedure:

  • To submit an abstract related to Clinical Chemistry, Hematology or Microbiology through the official website before September 25, 2025.
  • The trainee must define in which category the abstract is submitted, knowing that serology is in microbiology and auto-immunity is in chemistry

Joris Delanghe Award

Receive an Award during the RBSLM Annual Meeting.

Requirements:

  1. Scope of research

    The publication must be clearly related to diagnostic or translational laboratory medicine.
    Research may relate to either human or veterinary clinical diagnostics, provided the focus is on clinical laboratory-based methodologies with a clear and direct clinical application.
    Work that falls purely within the field of fundamental/basic science, without demonstrated relevance for clinical practice, will not be considered.
    Multidisciplinary or collaborative work is welcome, as long as the candidate’s contribution and the relevance to laboratory medicine are evident.

  2. Status of the candidate
    The candidate must be a member of the RBSLM
    The award is open to two groups of candidates:
    • the candidate must either be currently enrolled in a PhD program in a Belgian University or have completed their PhD in a Belgian University within the past three years before the submission deadline.
      • or
    • the candidate must be formally enrolled in a laboratory medicine specialty training program in Belgium.
  3. Nature of the publication

    The submitted publication must be peer-reviewed and published (or accepted for publication) in a recognized international journal.
    It must have been published within the last 24 months preceding the submission deadline.
    The candidate must be first author.

  4. RBSLM link

    The research must have been conducted under the supervision or with the significant scientific involvement of at least one RBSLM member, such as a PhD supervisor, co-supervisor, or senior collaborator, at the time of submission.
    The candidates must have an RBSLM membership at the time of submission.
    In case of doubt, candidates may be asked to provide confirmation of this affiliation and involvement.

Application procedure:

To apply to the prize, applicants need to fill in the online form, where it will be asked to:

  • Provide the PDF of the published article
  • Provide a brief statement (max. 300 words) explaining the relevance of the research to clinical laboratory medicine
  • Detail the specific contribution of the co-authors if the publication is co-authored
  • Provide a proof of acceptance in case of a press article
